Wine Not? Wine is Your New BFF

So it’s no secret that I like wine.

A lot.

Might have something to do with the fact that my uncle is the owner of Doffo Winery.

But it’s so much more to that. No, seriously.

Did you know that wine is actually good for you? Aside from making life seem better and making people look more attractive?

Believe it.

While you may have heard before that red wine is good for you, did you know that even white wine has some benefits too? Yeah, I was surprised by that one myself.

Let’s see what people have said about the health benefits of wine (as if we needed another reason to pour a glass).

While this article mainly quotes the benefits of red wine, they summarized that “research suggests that drinking wine in moderation provides antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits that may improve your gut bacteria and boost your heart health, mental health, and longevity.” [1]

But is there a real benefit to white wine, or are we just kidding ourselves?

According to an article published by The Washington Post, “White wine has been shown by researchers at the University of Barcelona to be higher in antioxidants and has been associated with weight loss and anti-aging effects.” [2]

The article also went on to say that the researchers found that red and white wine had “no material differences were identified in blood pressure, adiposity, liver function, drug therapy, symptoms or quality of life.”

Alright, so here’s my breakdown:

  1. Wine is good for you

  2. Red wine is good for you

  3. White wine is good for you

  4. Where’s my glass??

For all my fellow winos out there, you no longer have to feel guilty about cracking that bottle open. But if you’re going to drink wine, you might as well have the good stuff (cough, cough, Doffo wine).

All I ask is that you partake of one of my favorite drinks in moderation. While one glass can have amazing benefits, a whole bottle doesn’t make those benefits better.

Stay thirsty!
